Back-to-School Information and Helpful Tips for Families Swartz Creek Community Schools will welcome students back for the 2025–2026 school year on Wednesday, August 20. Please note that the first day will be a half-day PM for all students. See dismissal times by building listed below. To help families prepare for a smooth start to the school year, here are a few helpful tips: 1. Ease Into a Routine: Start adjusting your child’s bedtime and wake-up time now. Getting into a consistent routine before school begins helps students feel more rested and ready to learn. 2. Practice Lunch Skills: If your student is in the younger grades, take time to practice opening lunch items such as snack bags, containers, and juice boxes. This helps build independence and confidence during lunch time. 3. Organize Supplies: General supply lists can be found on our district website. Teachers will also communicate classroom-specific needs. Having a few basic items packed and ready in your child’s backpack is a great starting point. 4. Talk About the School Day: Discussing what to expect on a typical school day can ease first-day jitters and help your child feel more confident heading into the new year. 5. Label All Belongings: Make sure your child’s backpack, lunchbox, water bottle, and outerwear are clearly labeled. This increases the chances of lost items making their way back home. Early 5s and Kindergarten Families: You will receive information in the mail regarding a one-hour welcome meeting on the first day of school. Dear Elms Families: Thank you all so very much for taking the time to come in and write and/or create such positive notes and posters for your children. The response was truly overwhelming, and we were so touched by your participation! The students were absolutely thrilled to see their personalized messages and artwork displayed as they walked into their classrooms. Their excitement was palpable, and it made such a positive start to their day. We also want to extend a special thank you to the thoughtful parents who created postcards for other students. Your kindness and generosity in supporting all our learners is deeply appreciated. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all that you did to help prepare our students for the MSTEP testing. Your encouragement and positive reinforcement made a significant difference.

As a special thank you for our participation in Kids Heart Challenge, the American Heart Association is inviting Elms Rd Elementary School families to celebrate with the Detroit Pistons on Friday, April 11th at 7 PM as they take on the Milwaukee Bucks! All students will receive a complimentary ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket. All students will have the opportunity to take a free throw shot on-court post-game. 15 students will be chosen at random to participate as Anthem Buddies on court! Dear Parents, Our Lost & Found has become incredibly full with winter belongings, and we need your help! Before we head into Spring Break today, we are inviting all families to come to the school to claim any of their child's missing items. We have accumulated so many clothes that our racks are overflowing. We would be very grateful if you could stop by. The school will be open until 4:00 PM today for you to come and look through the Lost & Found. Please make every effort to come and retrieve your child's belongings. Anything unclaimed after today will be stored, but we would prefer to get these items back to their owners before the break. Thank you for your cooperation!
